First Day for my Last Baby: Reflections on the First Day of School

Y'all!!! I have loved having the privilege of being home with my youngest! But she started school today. It's only 3 hours and only 3 days a week but she's my BABY!

At some point I've worked while my older two were little. With Zoe it was out of necessity. We were newlyweds living with my parents. We had the blessing of grandparents taking care of her so I didn't have to worry about outside childcare (that nightmare is a whole other story!!) Then I was able to take her with me while I took care of another little girl up until Hannah was born. Zoe is very much a learner. She loves to read and learned her letters and numbers REALLY early so we started her in preschool (it was also my first preschool) a couple days a week. She loved it, and honestly has loved school ever since. This girl is going to do BIG things!

The day she found out she would be a Busy Bee! Once a Busy Bee, Always a Busy Bee!

Once Hannah was born, I was able to be home with her for a little while.  This little one is full of creativity and loves a craft! When she was around 18 months old we started her in a preschool where I could substitute. That little church school has a dear place in my heart, I was able to teach there the following year, even having Hannah in my class for a bit. Something I don't reccomend BUT I got to see a side of Hannah I never would've seen, her amazing ability to organize gets lost in the business sometimes. She notices details that most people miss and she sees things in technicolor! It's so fun to watch her create! While I loved my school babies, I missed out on a lot of things for Zoe's first year of real school. I decided to stay home the following year and enjoy all things kindergarten. November that year we found we were pregnant again with Emilee.

First Day of 3K.

Today Emilee is about 2 1/2 and has already started showing a big interest in learning, she plays school (and most anything else) with her big sisters, is great at pretending, loves to read and enjoys people, kids and adults. I knew school would be good for her and it would give me a good opportunity to write, get all the behind the scenes blog things done and get the house cleaned up. I can't hold on to her forever and I'm so blessed to have a sweet place for her to go and thrive.

I got so much done this morning!!!

Sheets have been changed, laundry folded, bathroom got a good scrub, all in an hour, I still had time to check my emails and start this post!! I definitely missed my sweet girl being here with me but man it's nice not having to worry about her pulling all the things out of the cabinets while I fold the laundry!

Emilee had a great first day! She walked right in, said hi to a new friend and started playing. Her teacher said she went potty twice, (she has not done that at home!) joined right in with the kids that had been there since September, followed directions, and played nicely. She was ready to come home but had a great time and is excited to go back on Wednesday!
